Brylee's Room
I had the chance to paint a nursery for the Richardson family. The couple wanted a bug theme using bright, bold colors such as lime green, a burnt red, chocolate brown, and light blue. She showed me the bed skirt that had a clean line design and I immediately got inspired for some sketches. Since the bed skirt had a simple design, I thought we should keep the mural simple as well. So I drew a clean lined tree and hills. As for the flowers, I used the stlye of the famous artist Wassily Kandinsky piece "Concentric Circles." I liked the overlapping circles that incorporate basic shape but still look like flowers:).
The process was a lot of fun and I hope they enjoy it for the next few years! Thank you Brianne and Brian!

My wedding job is over
So the wedding is finally over and all the planning, stressing, crying is over as well! It was definitely like a part time job when you have no wedding planner, but in the end it was worth it! All my friends and family took a huge part in helping making it more memorable. ( Thank you Melissa for the pictures I stole from you on Facebook). More pictures to come soon once I get my cd in!!!

Okay so I have been meaning to post some of my art work for a while now. So here are the pieces I have been working for the past several years and some that I have done more recently. The series of the 1920's women were inspired by actual old Bonticilla beauty adds from 1920's magazines. There will be more pictures of art to come!!!

A bathroom with a Tuscany feel!
Several months back, Brock's mother wanted to give the up stairs guest bathroom a fresh new look. The bathroom's color seemed very cold and stale, and the tile was in really bad shape so I told her I would love to help give the room a warmer feel.
She wanted to either go with an ocean oasis or a Tuscany cottage feel. I thought either one would be great so I sketched some drawings on what the bathroom could look like with some fresh paint and fun textures. From there, we both agreed on the Tuscany look, especially since she had a painting with a Italian country landscape. The painting basically became a inspiration for the room itself:)
I thought the cabinets could use a fresh chocolate color to contrast with a cream colored walls. To add more color, I thought the windows could use some rustic turquoise shutters or red curtains. And for the icing on the cake, it is always fun to add small small accessories to add a bit of character such as any kind of greenery, small pieces of furniture, or even a lamp to add more warmth!
I fell in love with the chocolate colored paint for the cabinets! As for the walls, we decided to go with a venictian plaster to add lots of texture. Finally for the tile, Ben, Brock's brother, came to the rescue of cutting and laying the tile with Jamie's help. They did an awesome job!!! I will post the picture of the shower tile soon.
After pictures!!! I will be posting more pictures soon!

Airstream Decor!
Growing up, I always thought my dad was part gypsy. I mean we basically moved every two years of my life, and my dad would explain to us that it was normal. Sometimes I think I could write a book about my dad and explain how he thought everything he did was normal according to him. Now that I am older, I laugh about all the ideas he had. Although, those "crazy" ideas is what makes my dad a unique character:)
Speaking of gypsies, I have been listening to Miranda Lambert's "Airstream Song" and I love how the first verse talks about wishing she could live in an airstream and live like a gypsy. I have had my fair share of moving around, but if I could do it again I would love to take trips in these adorable, vintage airstreams! I found these pictures on the Ruffled blog site and fell in love:) With the cute vintage decor and flower patterns, I wouldn't mind moving around again:) (This time it would be only for road trips:)

More pictures of the girl's room!
I had the chance to paint an simple Eiffel tower in Abby's room as well. Her theme was a French flower garden. So I decided to paint some rustic looking flowers to match the silk flowers hanging in the window. Abby's grandma refinished the dresser by adding a gold and black diamond pattern on the side. For the drawers, she mod podged pattern scrapbook paper to contrast against the gold paint! Cute black nobs were added for the finishing touches.
For Neve, I posted one of the bathroom pictures. I found some cute Parisian wall decor from Hobby Lobby. (They really have the best deals, especially when everything is 50% off). I found an old milk bottle for a buck at a garage sale in Abilene. I decided to stick the yellow silk flowers in the mug to give more of a old French country feel! Neve's dresser came from the "Junk-It" in Abilene, which is an awesome place to find some great used furniture redone to your taste. I added some 1920's French fashion wall decor from Hobby Lobby. The flag was dedicated to Neve's dad who passed away in Iraq so we definitely wanted it to be displayed. Hopefully I will be painting some more in the future!

Neve's New Room
This past week I took four days off to complete my painting mission in Abilene, My niece, Neve, has been anxiously waiting for me to come and completely redecorate her room. She wanted a Parisian theme to go with her sophisticated bedspread, which I really wanted to steal! I also had the chance to paint Abby's room (Abby is one of my sister's good friend's daughter). More pictures to come!

Transitions
Right now my life is in a big transition state. Wedding, seeking a job change, not knowing where to live, and asking myself where will I be a year from now? Only God knows and I know he is grasping me in his hands right now, which calms me down. Yes I admit, I have been getting a little stressed out lately since so many changes are about to head my way. Job hunting has been a pain but you have to start somewhere. I have been applying all over the world basically, and let me tell you that those teacher applications take forever!!! Aside from that, the wedding is coming soon and I only have 3 months! Time sure does fly. Planning a wedding by yourself is not the easiest, but I am getting the hang of it. I learned not to order an invitation for every person due to the fact that most couples live in the same house:) That was my blonde moment.:) Pretty much everything is done except for the cake and flowers. Believe me, I will get those done even if I do procrastinate:). I am very excited about getting married for one thing. Brock and I have been through many struggles and hard times (Well I have put him through a lot of hard times to say the least). I believe every moment I have spent with him has been worth it and I am so blessed God has put him in my life. He is the one that will surely get me to heaven one day and I think about that everyday. Okay, writing this is making myself shed some tears so I need to stop.:) All I can say is Brock "I love you!"

Spring Break has come and gone:)
So spring break has finally come to an end. Of course I am sad, but not for long because summer is almost here! I can not wait to head to the lake and tan (oh wait I will just burn like lobster). This past week has been pretty amazing to say the least. I had the chance to provide art activities for underprivileged children at the Salvation Army camp in Midlothian. The camp itself is very pretty for Texas and quite peaceful. My art activities were held in a chapel with windows covering most of the walls which created a beautiful view of the lake. This year the kids were so wonderful and I really did not have any problems! They all got so excited when I let them play with clay after their project which made me think not to take so many things for granted. Our projects included: making cowboy boots using oil pastel on old black dividers, coloring various patterns on manila paper to make Native American headbands, and of course using sidewalk chalk when the weather was warm enough. It was a long drive out there but it was worth the experience!

Well I back to my blog! Today I am going to Sweetwater for the rattlesnake roundup! I mean who doesn't want to eat rattlesnake meat and buy a snake skin wallet? This festival takes place every March and lasts for four days with a carnival, dancing, parade, food, hunting, and so much more all for the snakes! Except the snakes do not get to have fun, instead they go to Jesus:)
This weekend will mean a lot because my sweet little niece, Neve, is going with us to share the experience! My whole family is so happy that she finally here to stay in Texas!
