This summer my sister asked me to paint the girls room with some fun colors. Before they moved in to the house the walls were all white and completely boring. So we decided to choose some fun, vibrant colors that the girls and their friends would enjoy:) Kaitlyn did not want pink this time. Instead, she chose bright lime green, purple, turquoise, and with black accents. Of course she wanted to add zebra print, but I always hate when some people go over board with zebra print. The pattern sometimes make you crazy if you match everything with zebra! So I decided to add some touches of my own to balance out the patterns, such as swirly motifs to go above the bed. On top of that, I went ahead and refinished her pottery barn dresser into a more colorful shabby chic look! I painted the piece with latex turqoise and sprayed painted the handles and legs black. This created nice contrast.
Glenda, the girls' grammy, made sheer, purple curtains to drape over the little nook in both rooms. She truly has talent!
Taylor, on the other hand, wanted pink! Her new bed spread was made up of paisleys and stripes! The bed itself inspired me to create paisleys for the mural above the bed. I gave some of the girls' old frames a makeover by painting over them with simple acrylic paints. I revitalized some small furniture, such as the stools and side tables, by spray painting. The spray paint smell is not fun but it does give furniture a nice smooth finish!
The rooms came out very bright and girly! It is something they will truly enjoy:)
